Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed on Sunday the latest developments in Palestine with the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Iraq, Thomas Seiler.

The two sides discussed the bilateral ties between Iraq and the EU and ways to expand the economic partnership and cooperation in different fields, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

Hussein and Seiler talked about the recent developments in the region, particularly the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, where Hussein confirmed Iraq’s firm stance against the Israeli attempts to displace the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister called on the EU and the European governments to adopt a clear stance against the siege laid on Gaza, help open the Rafah crossing to send humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, and clearly stand against the Israeli attempts to deport the people of Gaza to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.

Seiler expressed the EU’s desire to promote cooperation with Iraq and thanked the Iraqi Foreign Ministry for its efforts to strengthen relations between the two sides.
