Iraqi FM discusses NATO’s support for Iraq’s cybersecurity
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed on Tuesday the support of NATO for Iraq’s cybersecurity with the commander of NATO Mission in Iraq (NMI), Giovanni Iannucci, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry.
The meeting between Hussein and Iannucci addressed the tasks carried out by the NMI, which are training the Iraqi security forces and providing military advice in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and the National Security Advisor, the statement mentioned.
The two officials discussed Hussein’s upcoming visit to Brussels this month, and his scheduled meeting with the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, the statement explained.
Iannucci expressed his happiness with the constructive cooperation between the Iraqi authorities and the NMI in terms of facilitating the mission’s tasks to achieve its desired goals, the statement illustrated.
Iannucci indicated the importance of the security and stability of Iraq for both the region and for the NATO, the statement clarified.
Iannucci also confirmed the NATO’s desire to strengthen the relations with Iraq in the next stage on the political level, and not to be limited to the military and security levels, the statement added.
