Iraqi FM reviews projects funded by World Bank
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received on Monday the representative of the World Bank in Iraq, Richard Abdulnour, where they discussed projects funded by the World Bank in Iraq, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
Hussein and Abdulnour reviewed the completion rates of these projects, and the obstacles that hinder their implementation, the statement mentioned.
The Iraqi minister stressed the need to strengthen the relations between Iraq and the World Bank to implement vital projects that serve the public interest, the statement explained.
Hussein also emphasized the importance of overcoming the difficulties facing the implementation of these projects, the statement elaborated.
The two sides discussed the projects implemented by the World Bank, in coordination with the Ministry of Planning and the Ministry of Finance.
The projects are focused on infrastructure, particularly in areas that witnessed battles against ISIS terrorists, the statement clarified
The World Bank allocated 300 million USD for community development project in all Iraqi governorates, as well as 750 million USD for the rehabilitation of bridges and vital projects, of which about 400 million USD were spent, the statement illustrated.
The World Bank also allocated 210 million USD for the rehabilitation of the Baghdad Water Project, the statement revealed.
Abdulnour expressed the World Bank’s aspiration to increase cooperation in the future to serve the public interest, the statement added.
