Iraqi government meets with top French corporations in Paris

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – High-level Iraqi officials met with a group of French business executives and representatives from major French firms during Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani’s official visit to Paris, France.

According to Al-Sudani, the Iraqi government has been working to reduce corruption, improve the business environment for international investors, and promote structural change in the financial and economic sectors.

“Our visits to France and the countries of the world are not ceremonial activities but rather deliberate visits aimed at achieving productive economic partnerships,” said Al-Sudani.

“In the energy sector, the government prioritizes investment in associated gas and renewable energy and other investment opportunities in the petrochemical, transportation, and iron and steel sectors,” added Al-Sudani.

High-level representatives from major French corporations such as Alstom, Airbus, Schneider Electric, Thales, Dassault Aviation, and the Air France-KLM Group were present in the meeting.

Fuad Hussein, Iraq’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Hayan Abdulghani, Iraq’s Minister of Oil, also attended the meeting.

On the sidelines, Al-Sudani met with Thales Group, a French company that specializes in defense and transportation sectors. They addressed equipping Iraq with specialized radar systems for low and high altitudes to safeguard the courses of public and military aviation at various altitudes, as well as to protect Iraqi airspace from unlawful flights.

Al-Sudani also met with executives from aviation giant Airbus. The meeting covered the topic of bolstering the Iraqi army aviation with combat and specialist helicopters.

Additionally, Iraqi officials met with Dassault Aviation where they spoke about equipping the Iraqi Air Force with Dassault Rafale combat aircraft and the Iraqi Civil Aviation with Falcon commercial planes.
