Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi immigrant Salwan Momika burned a copy of the Holy Quran in the Swedish city of Malmo, where the Swedish police arrested a person who tried to stop Momika from doing so.

Momika burned the Holy Quran in Fridhemstorget Street in Malmo during a demonstration he held on Sunday, where a man tried to stop him, but the police arrested the man, the Swedish national public television broadcaster (SVT) reported.

Around 200 people attended the demonstration, which ended after the organizer left the scene, according to the Swedish police.

The Iraqi refugee in Sweden sparked widespread anger in many countries and Islamic organizations after he burned and desecrated a copy of the Holy Quran outside Stockholm’s central mosque.

Recently, similar incidents in Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands have been repeated by extreme rightists in front of embassies of Islamic countries, which sparked angry reactions and prompted Arab countries to summon diplomats from those countries.

On July 26, the United Nations adopted a consensus resolution drafted by Morocco condemning all acts of violence against the holy books as these acts violate international law.
