 Iraqi PM affirms Iraq’s readiness to cooperate with Egypt

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, affirmed on Sunday Iraq’s readiness to push forward cooperation with Egypt, during a meeting with the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, according to a press statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.

The statement mentioned that the meeting between Al-Sudani and El-Sisi addressed ways to develop the bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as regional and international issues of common concern.

Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s readiness to move forward in enhancing joint work, and openness to new horizons of cooperation and integration in various fields, according to the statement.

The Egyptian President expressed Egypt’s desire and readiness to cooperate with Iraq in various fields, emphasizing that he values Iraq’s role in the region, the statement clarified.

Al-Sudani, accompanied by a large ministerial delegation, arrived on Sunday in Cairo on a visit that takes several hours.

An official reception ceremony took place at Cairo International Airport for the Iraqi Prime Minister, where the national anthems of both countries were played.

Al-Sudani was received by the Egyptian Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, in the airport.

Earlier on Sunday, the Iraqi government announced that Al-Sudani left the capital, Baghdad, heading to the Arab Republic of Egypt on an official visit, amid great hopes for opening prospects for cooperation with Egypt.

Egyptian media outlets indicated that Al-Sudani’s visit reflects his desire to strengthen the relations with Egypt.
