 Iraqi PM Al-Sudani meets with Russian President Putin in Moscow

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, met on Tuesday with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, as part of his official visit to Moscow, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and other topics of common interest.

The two sides talked about ways to enhance joint cooperation in various vital fields, including the energy sector, the development of the oil industries, and the Russian oil companies working in Iraq, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The meeting addressed several regional and international issues of common interest, including the dangerous developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Iraqi Prime Minister called on Russia and permanent members of the UN Security Council to take urgent action to stop the ongoing attacks on the Palestinian territories.

The Russian President talked about the depth of the historical relations between the two countries, indicating that the energy sector is a promising field for more constructive cooperation.

Putin welcomed Al-Sudani’s participation in the 6th version of the Russian Energy Week scheduled for Wednesday, which represents an important opportunity to expand the horizons of the partnership between the two countries in developing the energy, oil and gas sectors.

In terms of the recent developments in the Palestinian territories, Putin indicated that efforts are being made to stop the escalation between Palestine and Israel.
