Iraqi PM Al-Sudani meets with US Secretary of State Blinken in NYC
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.
The US-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement’s foundations were reiterated by Al-Sudani and Blinken as they reaffirmed their commitment to continuing to fortify bilateral ties.
According to a press statement from the US Government, the Secretary emphasized United States support for the reopening of the pipeline with Turkey and urged Iraq to keep growing its energy resources sustainably and fighting climate change.
Furthermore, the Secretary of State encouraged the Iraqi government to keep collaborating with Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
The conviction and sentence of people in Iraq on terrorism-related charges in connection with the murder of American Stephen Troell was commended by the Secretary for the Prime Minister’s dedication to judicial independence.
The Secretary extended an invitation from President Biden to the Prime Minister to visit the White House soon.
