Iraqi PM briefed on oil investments progress
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, received on Tuesday representatives of international oil companies, briefing him on the progress in the oil investment sector, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.
In addition to the progress in the oil investment sector, the meeting addressed the partnership between Iraq and major international companies in this field, the statement illustrated.
Al-Sudani was briefed about the progress of oil extraction, the expansion of oil facilities, the execution of contracts, and the obstacles hindering companies from fulfilling their obligations to the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.
The Iraqi Prime Minister directed the authorities to facilitate the work requirements of the operating companies, in terms of granting entry visas, expediting customs clearance, and tax accounting.
Al-Sudani stressed the need to meet environmental standards by companies operating in Iraq, in accordance with the agreements signed with the Iraqi government, to preserve the Iraqi environment.
The Iraqi Premier clarified that the government prioritizes projects utilizing associated gas to benefit from this wealth as soon as possible and to reach self-sufficiency with the required gas.
Al-Sudani also confirmed that the Iraqi government is ready to support its economic partners and welcomes development proposals, as it positively deals with observations to overcome problems and obstacles in cooperation with the Oil Ministry.
