Iraqi PM confirms Iraq’s support for the courage of civilians in Gaza

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, emphasized on Monday Iraq’s support for the courage of civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The two sides reviewed the most important issues in the region, including the latest developments of Israeli aggression against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The Iraqi Prime Minister renewed Iraq’s firm position supporting the right of the Palestinian people to establish their own independent state, stressing the importance of protecting sacred sites in Palestine.
Al-Sudani asserted that Iraq supports the persistence of civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip and the relief efforts exerted by countries in the region, calling on the international community to take serious measures to avoid the occurrence of a humanitarian catastrophe.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, during a meeting with Aboul Gheit, indicated that remarkable diplomatic efforts are ongoing to prevent the possible displacement of the Palestinian people to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
The Gaza Strip has been under siege since the Israeli occupying forces launched their most intense bombardment and blockade ever following a devastating cross-border assault by Hamas fighters on October 7, according to Reuters.
The population of Gaza has been left without electricity as the Israeli shelling and siege have become worse, putting the health and water systems on the verge of failure, with fuel for generators supplying hospitals with electricity running low.
