Iraqi PM discusses financial cooperation with IFC
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, discussed financial cooperation on Wednesday with a delegation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Al-Sudani met with the IFC delegation headed by the IFC’s Managing Director, Makhtar Diop, on the sidelines of their participation in the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
As the Iraqi government moves on with economic reforms and the implementation of significant strategic and investment initiatives, the meeting focused on the potential for cooperation between Iraq and the IFC, a member of the World Bank Group.
The Iraqi Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s readiness to promote cooperation and partnership with the IFC, particularly after concluding a contract between the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA) and the IFC to proceed with the Baghdad International Airport development project to be on par with international airports.
The IFC delegation conveyed its desire to expand its engagement in Iraq as an attractive region for investment and to take part in the Development Road strategic project and its associated significant projects.
