Iraqi PM discusses Gaza crisis with EU Ambassador
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, discussed on Saturday the latest developments in the region, particularly the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians in Gaza, with the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler.
Both sides talked about the bilateral ties between Iraq and the European Union as well as ways to develop relations to serve mutual interests, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Al-Sudani called on the international community and countries of the European Union to take responsible steps to stop the Israeli aggression against civilians in Gaza and to open safe corridors to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged sector.
The Iraqi Prime Minister also expressed Iraq’s desire to promote relations with the European Union and increase cooperation in development and economic sectors.
Seiler indicated that relations between Iraq and Europe clearly grew following the election of the new government in Iraq.
The EU Ambassador also confirmed that different European parties are willing to contribute to Iraq’s Development Road project.
Seiler stated that EU missions continue to work and cooperate with Iraq, confirming that the EU is working to achieve an immediate ceasefire, apply international law, and open safe corridors to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged people in Gaza.
