Iraqi PM discusses Turkish President’s upcoming visit to Iraq
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, received on Tuesday the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Ali Riza Guney, where they reviewed aspects of cooperation between Iraq and Turkey, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The statement illustrated that both sides discussed ways to promote bilateral relations to serve the interests of the two countries.
The meeting addressed the upcoming visit of the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Iraq and the activities of the joint economic forum that will be held in the southern Iraqi city of Basra, as mentioned in the statement.
The meeting also tackled Turkey’s contribution to the Development Road project with other neighboring countries, the shared water issue, and plans to build a measurement center on the Iraqi-Turkish border.
The Iraqi Prime Minister confirmed his support for promoting economic and trade cooperation between Iraq and Turkey to develop economic interdependence.
Al-Sudani also stressed the need to activate joint committees to follow up on the implementation of the bilateral agreements signed between the two neighboring countries.
