Iraqi PM, Japanese Ambassador discuss prospective future
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, received the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Futoshi Matsumoto, where they reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance these relations at economic and developmental levels, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.
Matsumoto was accompanied by the CEO of Toyota Corporation in Iraq, Yutaka Ezaki, the representative of Sumitomo Corporation in the Middle East, Hajime Mori, and Chairman of Sardar Group, Sardar Al-Bebany.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani affirmed the Iraqi government’s interest in the distinguished relations between Iraq and Japan, and its tendency towards benefiting from the experiences and practices of Japanese companies developing infrastructure in Iraq.
The Iraqi Prime Minister also indicated that the government is looking forward to expanding and developing services provided to citizens.
Al-Sudani also expressed Iraq’s aspiration to enhance the training in different Iraqi sectors, in cooperation with Japanese institutions and companies to generate more investment opportunities.
The Iraqi Premier clarified that the government program relies on the role of the private sector to achieve sustainable development and create job opportunities.
Al-Sudani explained that the partnership with Japanese institutions will positively help achieve these aspirations.
“I met Premier Al-Sudani to encourage more private sector investment as represented by Toyota Iraq as leading model,” Matsumoto said via Twitter.
The Japanese Ambassador emphasized his country’s desire, including major Japanese industrial and economic institutions, to enhance cooperation and expand exchange with Iraq in different fields.
