Iraqi PM meets with Arab League Secretary-General in Baghdad
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, discussed on Saturday the joint Arab action in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of Aboul Gheit’s participation in the 50th Arab Labor Conference held in Baghdad, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The two sides talked about the importance of activating the joint Arab action’s charters and agreements, particularly those pertaining to economic integration and other accords that raise the status of the Arab system to meet the goals of Arab countries and people.
The Iraqi Prime Minister reiterated Iraq’s unwavering stance on the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of unifying Arab stances to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The activities of the Arab Labor Conference were launched on Saturday under the auspices of the Iraqi Prime Minister and will continue until May 4.
The Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs confirmed last Wednesday that the Arab Labor Conference will focus on human resources challenges in Arab countries.
In addition to Al-Sudani and Aboul Gheit, the opening ceremony of the conference was also attended by the Director-General of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Gilbert Houngbo, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO), Ali Al-Marri, as well as Arab labor ministers and several diplomatic missions.
