Iraqi PM meets with General Electric, Honeywell to stimulate industrial development
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, met on Thursday, on the sidelines of his participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, with CEOs and representatives of US companies to discuss ways to increase partnerships and collaboration between these companies and Iraq.
Al-Sudani met with representatives of General Electric and Honeywell, where they talked about strengthening and developing previous agreements as the government is trying to accelerate economic reform and enhance technological and industrial development, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The Iraqi Prime Minister confirmed that Iraq is ready to attract different types of investments, particularly with the ongoing efforts of the government to build the required infrastructure.
Al-Sudani also met with members of the US Chamber of Commerce, where many businessmen, investors, and representatives of major American companies attended.
The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Vice President of Middle East Affairs at the US Chamber of Commerce, Steve Lutes, to arrange the meeting, which aims to let investors know about the business environment in Iraq.
Al-Sudani explained that Iraq is an investment-attracting country, especially with the existence of natural wealth that has not been exploited yet, adding that it is time to benefit from this wealth to achieve prosperity for the Iraqi people and to enhance the strategic relationship with the United States.
