Iraqi PM receives delegations participating in Ancient Civilization Forum

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, received heads of delegations participating in the Ancient Civilizations Forum which started on Sunday in Baghdad, with the participation of ten countries, according to a press statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.
During his meeting with the heads of delegations, Al-Sudani indicated the civilized role of Iraq throughout history, as the Mesopotamian civilization enacted the first laws regulating human life, the statement mentioned.
Al-Sudani stressed that Iraq now seeks to keep abreast of developments in the international system, on the humanitarian and legal levels, and is open to cooperation with all international parties and specialized organizations, the statement elaborated.
Al-Sudani indicated the possibility of drafting bilateral memorandums of cooperation between Iraq and the member states of the forum in the fields of culture and antiquities.
The Iraqi Prime Minister called for providing assistance to Iraq in documenting its human heritage, through the reconstruction of archaeological sites.
Al-Sudani clarified that the principles and objectives for which the forum was held can be used as a message against extremist and racist ideology to renounce hatred and violence.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, mentioned last month that Iraq will host the sixth edition of the Ancient Civilizations Forum on December 4, in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, with the participation of ten countries.
The participating countries are Iraq, Greece, China, Egypt, Iran, Italy, Peru, Bolivia, Armenia, and Mexico.
Al-Sahhaf elaborated that the conference aims to enhance communication, exchange experiences between people from different cultures, preserve world heritage, and increase historical and cultural tourism activity.
