Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, renewed on Monday Iraq’s moral stance on Israel’s brutal aggression against the Palestinian people.

“On the first day of the new year, we reaffirm our moral stance regarding the brutal aggression against our Palestinian people,” Al-Sudani said via X, formerly Twitter.

“We once again remind the international community of its responsibilities to stop this aggression, open the way for humanitarian aid, and work to ensure a decent and free life for all Palestinians,” the Iraqi Prime Minister added.

The Israeli army announced in a new year message that soldier deployments were being modified in anticipation of ‘a prolonged fighting.’

The war in Gaza broke out after Hamas militants launched an unprecedented cross-border attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking around 240 more hostages.

Since October 7, 21,978 people have been killed, most of them women and children, and 56,697 others have been injured in Gaza, according to the health ministry operated by Hamas.
