Iraqi PM to visit Germany next week
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, announced that he will visit Germany next week, at the invitation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, to enhance joint cooperation in various fields.
“We will visit Germany on Wednesday next week, at the invitation of Chancellor Olaf Scholz in the context of the historical relations between Iraq and Germany,” Al-Sudani said during an interview with Bild magazine.
“We will be keen to enhance the cooperation and economic partnership, and we will address issues related to human resources, climate change, security cooperation, and other humanitarian issues,” Al-Sudani explained.
Al-Sudani stated that he will discuss initiatives and ideas that were studied by the Iraqi government and the German embassy in Baghdad.
Al-Sudani elaborated that these initiatives and ideas are related to gas investment and providing support to German companies in Iraq, especially since Siemens works in the electricity sector in Iraq.
Regarding the cooperation with Berlin in the field of energy, Al-Sudani clarified that since Iraq has continuous plans to increase oil production and gas investment, it can meet the needs of Germany in terms of energy, particularly in light of the high demand which led to an increase in prices.
