Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, arrived in the Bahraini capital, Manama, on Wednesday to participate in the 33rd summit of the Arab League that will kick off on Thursday.

Under the leadership of Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the summit is attended by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, as well as Arab leaders or their delegates.

Arab leaders and heads of delegations started showing up to take part in the summit.

Following a series of preparatory meetings, the Arab foreign ministers drafted an agenda that includes political, development, security, economic, social, cultural, and media issues.

The Arab-Israeli conflict and the Palestinian issue are also included in the draft agenda.

The catastrophic circumstances in Gaza dominated the pre-summit meeting of Arab foreign ministers on Tuesday.

Aboul-Gheit explained during the meeting that words cannot describe the pain and anger that one feels over what is occurring in Gaza. He also said that the revenge of Israeli authorities has resulted in horrible acts that are officially referred to as ethnic cleansing.

The Arab League’s Secretary General described the Israeli aggression in Gaza as a disgraceful stain on the Israeli authorities and the world for permitting such horrors and inhumane conditions.
