Iraqi President attends King Charles III’s coronation ceremony
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, attended on Saturday the coronation ceremony of King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey in London, the Iraqi Presidency mentioned in a statement.
The Iraqi Presidency elaborated that Rashid received an official invitation to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III of the United Kingdom.
Upon his arrival at London airport, Rashid was welcomed by Lord Robert Lofven, the statement explained.
Iraq’s First Lady, Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, and Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, also accompanied the Iraqi President on the visit, according to the statement.
Charles III is the 40th monarch to be crowned at Westminster Abbey, where the coronation has been held for the past 900 years.
Many leaders from around the world attended the coronation.
A statement issued by the presidential office explained that Lord Robert Lofven, acting as a representative of the British monarch, extended a cordial welcome to the visiting President at the airport, BNN reported.
The warm reception highlighted the friendly relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom and set the stage for the President’s participation in the historic event, BNN added.
The coronation of King Charles III marks a significant moment in British history, as the country welcomes a new King after decades of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.
President Rashid’s presence at the ceremony reflects Iraq’s commitment to maintaining strong diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom, and the visit will promote continued cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
