Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, said that the human suffering of the displaced must end, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Presidency.

Rashid noted that Baghdad is cooperating with the international community to return the displaced to their areas.

The Iraqi President’s statement took place during his meeting with the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Baghdad, Ahmed Zouiten.

Rashid and Zouiten discussed ways to upgrade the health sector in Iraq, which was greatly affected by wars in the country, in addition to the crisis of the displaced.

The representative of the WHO said that the organization supports the Iraqi efforts to return the displaced to their areas.

Last March, the Iraqi Ministry of Immigration announced that there are about 40 thousand displaced families in 29 refugee camps, indicating that the total number of displaced is estimated at one million.

Zouiten pointed out that the government program aims to end the displacement issue within six months, adding that displaced people are currently returning on daily basis.
