Iraqi President discusses regional developments with Jordanian King
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, held bilateral discussions on Monday with the King of Jordan, King Abdullah II, at Basman Palace in Jordan, in the presence of the Crown Prince of Jordan, Prince Hussein bin Abdullah.
The discussions highlighted the need to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation between the two countries to promote economic partnership and development sectors, according to a statement released by the Iraqi Presidency.
The two sides discussed regional and international issues as well as the pivotal role of Iraq and Jordan in the region to enhance international peace and security.
Both sides stressed the need to support the Palestinian cause, intensify efforts to put an immediate stop to the assault on Gaza, and seek to find a solution that puts an end to bloodshed and ensures the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
The two sides also called on the international community to stop the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, represented by racial discrimination, siege, and infringing upon sacred sites.
The meeting addressed the recent developments in the region, the importance of reducing tensions, stopping the ongoing escalation, and adopting constructive dialogue to establish security, stability, and peace between countries in the region.
