Iraqi President, Kurdistan President discuss latest developments
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, received on Tuesday the President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, in Baghdad where they discussed the latest local developments, according to a press statement issued by the Iraqi Presidency.
The two leaders discussed the issue of the displaced and the difficult living conditions they suffer from in refugee camps, and agreed on working to improve their living conditions and to put in efforts to ensure a safe and stable return of all the displaced to their original homes and cities, the statement mentioned.
Rashid and Barzani also discussed the latest security, political and economic developments, and ways to support the steps of the federal government to implement its program aiming to meet the citizens’ needs and to improve their living conditions, the statement explained.
The meeting addressed the relations with neighboring countries based on mutual respect and common interests, with an emphasis on the concerted efforts to preserve Iraq’s stability and sovereignty, the statement elaborated.
With respect to efforts to combat terrorism and confront ISIS terrorists, both sides highlighted the importance of cooperation between all security forces to eliminate terrorism and dry up its sources in a way that preserves the lives of citizens and protects their property and human rights, the statement clarified.
Regarding the outstanding issues between the federal government and the regional government, both sides stressed the need to adopt a constructive dialogue, and to reach solutions in accordance with the constitution to achieve social justice and equality between all Iraqi citizens, the statement added.
