Iraqi security arrests ISIS financial officer
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Joint Operations Command in Iraq reported on Tuesday that the so-called financial administrative officer of the ISIS terrorist group had been arrested.
The Counter-Terrorism Service arrested the financial administrative officer of ISIS after he entered Iraq using counterfeited documents to resume his terrorist activity in the country, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The Joint Operations Command said that the Counter-Terrorism Service will continue operations to destroy the remnants of the ISIS group and thwart their terrorist plans to preserve the security and stability of Iraq.
In December 2017, after about four years of confrontation with the terrorist group ISIS, Iraq announced the liberation of its entire territory from the terrorist group after it controlled about a third of the country’s territory.
Following the elimination of ISIS, Iraqi security is struggling to eliminate its remnants in the governorates of Nineveh, Kirkuk, Diyala, Salah Al-Din, Anbar, and the outskirts of Baghdad.
ISIS occupied large areas of Iraq and Syria, but the Iraqi authorities have affirmed more than once their commitment to eliminating terrorist groups in the country.
