Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Muhammad Hassan Jaafar, brother of the commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, filed a lawsuit against Iraqi and American prominent figures over the assassination of Al-Muhandis and his companions near Baghdad International Airport.

According to a document published by Iraqi media outlets, Jaafar and a group of his supporters filed a lawsuit in Karkh Federal Appeal Court, demanding that former U.S. President Donald Trump, his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and the U.S. ambassador to Iraq be held accountable.

The document added that the complaint was also filed against Iraqi prominent figures, such as former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, the Director of the National Center, and the former Undersecretary of the General Military Intelligence Directorate (GMID), over the assassination of Al-Muhandis, commander of the Quds Force Qasem Soleimani, and their companions in 2020.

On January 3, 2020, two Hellfire missiles targeted Soleimani, Al-Muhandis and their companions, shortly after they left the airport in Baghdad.

The U.S. Department of Defense announced on the same day it carried out an air strike near Baghdad International Airport which resulted in the killing of Soleimani, Al-Muhandis, and others.
