Moment of silence held in memory of the Basra bus accident victims
A moment of silence took place in Basra before the semifinal match between Iraq and Qatar.
Basra (IraqiNews.com) – An accident involving a bus transporting Iraqi football supporters to Basra for the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup left 30 fans wounded and six dead.
According to reports, a heavy-duty truck and a bus crashed in northern Basra’s Dhi Qar Governorate. The injured were sent to the Souq Al-Shuyukh General Hospital for treatment.
Adnan Darjal, the Head of the Iraqi Football Federation, issued a statement offering comfort and sympathies to the families of the dead.
Before the semifinal match between Iraq and Qatar, the national teams of Iraq and Qatar as well as the fans observed a moment of silence for one minute at the Basra International Stadium.
