Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – A new drone attack targeted early on Tuesday the Ain Al-Asad base, which houses US and Iraqi forces, in the western Iraqi governorate of Anbar.

An Iraqi security source and a government source said that two drones targeted the base, with no casualties or damages reported, according to Reuters.

Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza more than 3 weeks ago, a series of drone and missile attacks have targeted the Ain Al-Asad base.

A faction calling itself the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for a missile attack on the military base on Monday and said it directly hit its targets.

Security sources told Reuters that four Katyusha rockets were launched from a desert area about 25 kilometers north of the Ain Al-Asad base.

Two Iraqi military officials said that the rockets may have fallen far from the base.

An official at the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) confirmed that US and coalition forces in Iraq and Syria were attacked 23 times using drones and missiles in October.

In response to these attacks, US aircraft bombed last Thursday two facilities in eastern Syria used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, according to the US Department of Defense.

Washington said that US President Joe Biden gave the order for these operations in what it described as self-defense.

About 2,500 US soldiers are deployed in Iraq and about 900 others in Syria.
