Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC) announced on Wednesday it completed the drilling operations of a new oil well in Nasiriyah oil field in Dhi Qar governorate in southern Iraq, according to the state news agency (INA).

Director of the IDC, Bassem Abdul Karim Nassir, mentioned in a statement that the technical and engineering staff in the IDC completed the drilling operations of a new oil well in the Nasiriyah field/50, with a depth of 2121 meters.

Nassir indicated that the new well is the third one completed as part of a contract signed with Dhi Qar Oil Company (DCOC) to drill 20 oil wells in Nassiriya oil field.

Nassir explained that the drilling operation were carried out in 49 days using the one thousand horsepower IDC-44 drilling rig.

Nassir clarified that IDC allocated four modern drilling rigs to implement this project.

Nassir announced last July that the IDC completed the drilling of the first well within the same contract signed with Dhi Qar Oil Company, in cooperation with the U.S. Weatherford Company, to drill 20 oil wells in the Nasiriyah oil field to provide oil services.

In a press conference held last April, Nassir mentioned that modern rigs are being used in the drilling operations, and the planned depth of each well is around 2,200 meters, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.
