Petro Iraq, Jereh sign contract for Iraq’s Mansuriya gas field

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – China-based oilfield services provider Jereh Group and Iraq’s Midland Oil Company, the country’s fourth oil firm and a state-owned company, have inked a new contract for an exploration and production project in the Iraq’s second-largest gas field.

Pending permission from Iraqi and Chinese authorities, Jereh will lead the development of the Mansuriya natural gas field in the Diyala region of Iraq in collaboration with Petro Iraq.

Petro Iraq and Jereh aim to attain a peak production rate of 300 MMcfd within four to five years, starting with an initial production rate of 100 MMcfd from Mansuriya within 18 months.

With estimated reserves of 4.5 trillion cubic feet, Mansuriya, which stretches 20 kilometers long and three to four kilometers wide, is Iraq’s second-largest gas field after Akkas.

This comes after China-owned enterprises were granted 10 onshore blocks in Iraq’s most recent licensing round.

Through its primary business as a provider of oilfield services, Jereh has been active in Iraq.
