Reconstruction of Mosul landmarks to be completed by end of 2023

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) – The Al-Nuri Mosque, Al-Hadba Minaret, Al-Tahira Church, and the historic clock in Mosul are all now being rebuilt, and work is expected to be finished by the end of 2023, according to a statement from Iraq’s General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage.
The restoration effort is being led by the United Nations and is being based on the three pillars of heritage, cultural life, and education. It was launched in 2018 with the slogan “Reviving the Spirit of Mosul”.
The rebuilding operations were temporarily put on hold owing to the Corona epidemic, but are now getting closer to completion, according to Laith Majid Hussein, Director of the Iraqi State Board of Antiquities and Heritage.
The project to revitalize Mosul was supported by 15 collaborating parties, including the European Union and the United Arab Emirates, which gave $50 million.
