 Al-Hakim meets Saudi Crown Prince in Jeddah

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, met on Sunday with the leader of Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, Ammar Al-Hakim, in Jeddah, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Both leaders reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, SPA mentioned.

The meeting was attended by the Saudi Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid Bin Salman, and Minister of State, Cabinet Member and National Security Advisor, Musaed Al-Aiban.

The attendees also included President of General Intelligence Khalid Al-Humaidan, Saudi Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, Al-Hakim’s deputy Mohsen Al-Hakim, and special adviser Ahmed Al-Hakim.

A statement issued by Al-Hakim’s media office mentioned that the two sides exchanged views on the political developments in Iraq and the region, and the relationships between Baghdad and Riyadh.

Al-Hakim expressed his support for any step that would stop the violence in Yemen and restore this pivotal country to its regional role and status, the statement explained.

The Iraqi leader confirmed that the diplomatic developments between Riyadh and Tehran will reflect positively on the entire region, the statement clarified.

Al-Hakim also expressed happiness for the current steps to invite Syria to the next Arab League summit, the statement added.

Earlier on Saturday, the crown prince received Iraqi Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Al-Halbousi in Jeddah where both reviewed relations.

The meeting follows a consultative ministerial meeting also held in Jeddah where foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt participated.

The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, met on Friday with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on the sidelines of the consultative ministerial meeting.

The meeting between Hussein and Farhan addressed the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Riyadh and ways to strengthen these relations to serve the interest of the people of both countries.
