Shares worth $508 million traded in Iraq Stock Exchange in 2023
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraq Stock Exchange (ISX) announced on Sunday that shares valued at over 671 billion dinars (approximately $508 million) were traded in 2023.
According to a market report, 237 trading sessions on shares of joint-stock companies were organized during the past year, representing an increase of 0.4 percent compared to the number of trading sessions organized in 2022, Shafaq News reported.
The report revealed that approximately 689.62 billion shares, worth $508 million, had been traded in 2023.
The report also noted that the concluded sale and purchase contracts reached 155,920, representing a 15 percent increase compared to 2022.
In contrast to the last trading session held in 2022, when the trading index concluded at 585 points, the trading index for the last trading session in 2023 closed at 893 points, a 52 percent increase.
In 2023, the share prices of 47 firms saw a gain; seven of them had increases above 100 percent. The company with the biggest annual share price growth was Al-Ameen Estate Investment, which had a 525 percent increase. Credit Bank of Iraq saw the second-highest annual increase, at 229.2 percent.
