Subsidized internet subscription service to be launched in early February

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The telecommunications sector in Iraq is preparing to launch a subsidized subscription service in early February to provide free internet to more than two million Iraqi families in Baghdad and the rest of the governorates.
The Iraqi Ministry of Communications aims to improve the quality of the service provided to the people at reduced prices.
“In fact, nearly three million Iraqi homes will benefit from this service,” the Iraqi Minister of Communications, Hayam Al-Yasiri, stated.
The new service aims to address poor internet service and high prices in Iraq, and to support low-income families.
This service will allow subscribers to get 100 gigabytes of data at a discounted price of 10 USD per month.
Iraq is one of the countries that provide the worst internet service because there are many unlicensed companies seeking quick profit.
The Ministry of Communications managed to reduce the number of unlicensed companies from more than 100 companies to 36 companies, in order to tackle the chaos in the market and the greed of speculators looking for quick profit.
