 Tajikistan expresses desire to open embassy in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Tajikistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, expressed his country’s desire to open an embassy in Baghdad, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

The statement elaborated that the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, met with Muhriddin at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the UN 2023 Water Conference.

Both sides discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, the need to confront common risks, and the importance of exchanging visits between officials of the two countries, the statement mentioned.

Hussein and Muhriddin also discussed regional and international issues of common concern, and the need to follow political solutions in regional crises, the statement explained.

The Iraqi minister expressed Iraq’s desire to enhance cooperation with Tajikistan in political, economic, commercial, cultural and tourism areas, calling on Tajikistan to open an embassy in Baghdad.

Hussein considered it an important step that would strengthen the relations between the two countries, expressing the readiness of the Foreign Ministry to provide all required support to facilitate the opening of Tajikistan’s embassy in Iraq.

Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister thanked the Iraqi government for the assistance it provided to return the children and women of Tajikistan to their country, the statement clarified.

Muhriddin also stressed his country’s desire to cooperate with Iraq, open the Tajikistan embassy in Baghdad, and promote cooperation in political, cultural, commercial, economic and tourism areas.
