Torrential rains expected to hit Iraq in the coming 24 hours
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – An Iraqi meteorologist predicted that areas in the northern and western parts of the country would be exposed to torrential rains during the next 24 hours.
Meteorologist Ali Al-Jaber Al-Ziyadi said that forecasts indicate that the next 24 hours will witness the danger of heavy rain.
Al-Ziyadi warned of torrential rains in some areas of the country, especially the northwestern area of Al-Rutba in Anbar governorate, up to the western border strip towards Al-Qaim town located nearly 400 kilometers northwest of Baghdad, near the Syrian border.
Al-Ziyadi indicated that the heavy rains are likely to include some northern areas such as Nineveh governorate.
The Iraqi meteorologist explained that other northern governorates are expected to witness less rains than the rains in the western part of the country.
A wave of heavy rains drenched areas in Iraq, including the capital, Baghdad, last Saturday, in the highest rate recorded by the country which has been exposed to drought for three years.
