Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Turkey aims to increase its exports to Iraq to 16 billion USD next year, where exports during 2022 exceeded 12 billion USD, head of the Iraqi-Turkish Business Council, Khaled Ajar, mentioned on Sunday, according to the Anadolu Agency.

Ajar explained that the Turkish-Iraqi relations are developing day by day, particularly trade.

Ajar stated that Turkey’s exports to Iraq during the first 11 months in 2022 reached 12.6 billion USD, confirming that Turkey was the fifth largest exporter to Iraq in 2021.

Ajar indicated that Istanbul is the largest Turkish city in terms of exports to Iraq, with exports worth 2.6 billion USD, Gaziantep is the second largest Turkish exporting city to Iraq with exports worth 1.8 billion USD, and the Turkish city of Mardin is in the third place with exports worth 833 million USD.

The head of the Iraqi-Turkish Business Council expected that the value of Turkish exports to Iraq would exceed 14 billion USD by the end 2022.

The Turkish exports to Iraq include grains, legumes, oilseeds, chemicals, paper supplies, furniture and steel, according to Ajar.

The Iraqis are ranked first among foreigners buying real estate in Turkey. Iraqi citizens own more than 33.5 thousand properties in Turkey, followed by the Iranians who own more than 18.4 thousand properties in the country.
