Turkish army destroys 16 targets of Kurdish militants in northern Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Turkish army launched air strikes on sites of Kurdish militants in northern Iraq on Tuesday evening, killing some of them.
The air strikes are part of intensive operations launched by Turkey in response to an attack claimed by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in front of government buildings in the capital, Ankara, according to the Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish army killed several Kurdish militants and destroyed 16 of their sites in northern Iraq. Those sites include hideouts, caves, and warehouses used by Kurdish militants.
The Turkish army took certain measures to ensure that civilians and archaeological sites were not affected by the air strikes in northern Iraq.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced last Sunday that it carried out air strikes in northern Iraq, hours after the PKK claimed responsibility for the suicide attack that took place in front of the headquarters of the Turkish Ministry of Interior in Ankara.
The Turkish Defense Ministry mentioned in a statement that it will continue to combat terrorism to preserve the country’s security.
The PKK said that a team affiliated with the Khaledin Brigade carried out a suicide attack against the Turkish Ministry of Interior.
