Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, is expected to make an official visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Thursday.

An Iraqi government official told Shafaq News that Fidan’s scheduled visit is part of the arrangements taking place for the upcoming visit of the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Iraq.

Falah Mustafa Bakir, Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, said earlier this month that the Turkish President was scheduled to visit Baghdad and Erbil following the conclusion of the Turkish municipal elections.

Bakir added that this visit will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations with Iraq in general and Iraqi Kurdistan in particular.

In a statement to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister, Ahmet Yildiz, said that Erdogan is scheduled to visit Iraq before the end of April.

Yildiz mentioned that he would be reviewing relations and holding talks with officials at the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
