Uganda expresses eagerness to open embassy in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Republic of Uganda expressed on Monday its keenness to open an embassy in Baghdad, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
The statement mentioned that the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received on Tuesday advisors of the Ugandan President for the Middle East and the special envoy of the Ugandan Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Hussein received a written message from the Ugandan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abubaker Jeje Odongo, expressing the Ugandan side’s desire to develop bilateral relations between Baghdad and Kampala.
The message also explained that Kampala is seeking to raise the level of diplomatic representation between the two countries and to open two embassies in Iraq and Uganda, as mentioned in the statement.
The statement illustrated that the Iraqi Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the Ugandan side’s desire to promote bilateral relations.
The statement added that Hussein also highlighted the importance of the African continent for Iraq and Iraq’s eagerness to strengthen relations with African countries, particularly with Uganda.
