Ukrainian FM visits Iraq for the first time since Russian-Ukrainian war started

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, confirmed on Monday that Iraq supports the cease-fire in Ukraine, during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart in Baghdad.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba indicated that his visit to Baghdad reflects the development of relations between the two countries.
“Ukraine is an important agricultural and industrial country, and we affirm the continuation of relations with it,” Hussein stated during the joint press conference.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister indicated that Iraq seeks to be part of the solution regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Hussein explained that his meeting with Kuleba addressed ways to continue and strengthen trade relations with Ukraine, as well as issues related to the region and the impact of the economic war.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister confirmed that his visit to Baghdad reflects the development of relations between the two countries, pointing out that the relationship with Iraq is developing.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday that Kuleba will visit Baghdad on Monday in a visit that is the first of its kind since the launch of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
The spokesperson of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, explained earlier that Kuleba’s visit is intended to discuss ways to strengthen the bilateral relations and how to deal with regional and international challenges in the region.
