US-Iraqi Business Council strengthens partnership with Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Steve Lutes, the President of the US-Iraqi Business Council and Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce for Middle East Affairs, and US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, were greeted by Iraq’s Prime Minister, Mohammed Al-Sudani, in Baghdad, Iraq.

The strategic meeting covered a range of subjects, including collaborations in the energy and environmental sectors between Iraq and the United States as well as economic, financial, and health cooperation.

The progress of these sectors as described in Iraq’s government agenda was prioritized, and there was also an emphasis on improving the Strategic Framework Agreement between the two nations.

The Iraqi government’s commitment to establishing rules and regulations that provide multinational businesses with a secure environment in which to invest was highlighted by the Al-Sudani.

Lutes, President of the US-Iraqi Business Council, is in charge of creating and carrying out policies and plans that encourage American investment and economic prospects in Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain.

Through the US-Iraq Business Council, the US Chamber of Commerce takes the lead in fostering trade and investment ties between Iraq and the United States.

The US-Iraq Business Council acts as a dialogue for discussion and active engagement between the American private sector and representatives of the federal and provincial governments of Iraq as well as US government officials with a focus on Iraq at the Department of State, National Security Council, Departments of Commerce, Energy, and Office of the US Trade Representative and other international organizations.

The Council is the sole organization that advocates for corporate interests and has tight ties to the administrations in Baghdad and Erbil as well as to their Washington-based embassies.
