World Bank, American Chamber of Commerce discuss electronic payments in Iraq
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – A delegation from the World Bank discussed on Monday with the American Chamber of Commerce the electronic payment issue and indicated that there are efforts to have it developed, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), Ammar Hamad Khalaf, participated in the annual meetings held by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in the U.S. capital, Washington, INA mentioned.
A delegation from the World Bank discussed with officials in the IMF ways to cooperate with Iraq, and to provide the necessary support for the development of various economic sectors, particularly the banking sector, according to INA.
The delegation discussed with the American Chamber of Commerce and some companies in the United States the electronic payment issue in Iraq, and the efforts of the CBI to have it developed, INA explained.
INA added that this step will contribute to increasing the rate of financial inclusion.
