Zain Group to be official sponsor of the 25th Gulf Cup
Basra (IraqiNews.com) – The 25th Arab Gulf Cup, dubbed “Khaleeji Zain 25”, will have Zain Group as its sponsor, according to a company announcement. The Gulf Cup will take place tomorrow in Basra, Iraq from January 6–19, 2023.
Iraq’s prominence on the regional football map is once again established with the return of international football activity.
The last time Iraq hosted the Arab Gulf Cup, in 1979, the nation won the championship. Now, 44 years later, the competition joyfully returns. The competition is conducted every two years in one of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation’s member nations, namely Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, or Yemen.
Zain launched a campaign called “Eldenya Basra” to support this historic event and to welcome the regional Gulf teams and delegations taking part in the competition. The campaign emphasized the significance of this occasion and the collaborative efforts made to promote youth empowerment, sports development, and the return of regional competitions to Iraq.
In order to showcase Basra’s rich cultural heritage and historical ties to the Gulf nations, Zain produced an unique song by Iraqi musician Mahmoud El Turki as part of its “Eldenya Basra” campaign that is airing on social media platforms and media channels.
Zain is a significant mobile telecom pioneer in seven Middle Eastern and African regions, including Iraq.
