$10m for Iraqi soccer team if it wins Khaleeji 20
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi investment company pledged $10 million for Iraq‘s soccer team if it wins Khaleeji 20 championship, currently taking place in Yemen, according to the Chairman of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee on Thursday. “An (Iraqi) investment company has allocated 10 million dollars, to be paid to the members of the Iraqi soccer team if it wins the Khaleeji 20 tournament being hosted in Yemen,” Bashar Mustapha Othman told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said the company, whose name he did not mention, had “phoned me and informed me with its decision to allocate the sum for our soccer team in the event of its winning the Arabian Gulf Cup of Nations (Khaleeji) championship for the fourth time”. Iraq will play its second game against the Bahrain, after its goalless draw in its first tournament encounter against the United Arab Emirates. SKH/SR/AmR 163
