Iraqi Olympic Team to meet Syrian Counterpart on Saturday
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Olympic Football Team will play its second match within the Islamic Solidarity Championship currently held in Indonesia against the Syrian counterpart at 11:30 a.m. according to Baghdad local time.
The envoy of the Iraqi Federation for Sports Journalism, Sajid al-Mahdawi, reported to IraqiNews.com “The coach of the Iraqi team, Hadi Mutanish confirmed that the Iraqi team will play for victory in front of Syria to preserve one of the tickets to qualify for the second round in the championship.”
Mutanish added “The Syrian team is among the best teams in the championship which came to compete on winning the golden medal.”
“The Iraqi team will play in green jerseys while the Syrian team will play in red jerseys,” according to Coach Mutanish.
It is worth to mention that the Iraqi team lost its first match in the championship against the Turkish counterpart (3-2).
