Iraq’s al-Karkh loses first game in Asia handball games
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s al-Karkh club on Saturday lost its first game to Lebanon’s al-Sadd at the 11th Asian Handball Club League Championship hosted by the Saudi city of Jeddah. There was a four-goal deficit as al-Karkh lost 22/26 to al-Sadd of Lebanon. Al-Karkh took the lead with three goals at the end of the first half. The Iraqi team will play its second Group C game against Saudi Arabia’s al-Ahli on Sunday (Feb. 15). The Asian Handball Club League Championship is the official competition for men’s handball clubs of Asia. It takes place annually. In addition to crowning the Asian champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Super Globe. AmR (P)/SR 1
