1,000 Iraqi Kurdistan students gain scholarships abroad
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: One-thousand male and female students in north Iraq ’s Kurdistan Region have gained scholarships to study abroad, Kurdistan ’s Minister of Higher Education said on Wednesday. “The second group for scholarships for students has reached 1,000, to complete their high studies in international universities, according to the needs of Kurdistan universities,” Prof. Dilawar Aladdin told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that the seats were distributed at 256 students to get PhD, 545 Master degree and 150 candidates for modern universities from the Kurdistan towns of Kariman, Rania, Zakhu, Soran and Halabja. Noteworthy is that the 1 st group for the program of scholarships were based on three phases, first of which was launched in August, 2010, for 240 students for the fiscal year – 2009-2010, whilst the 2 nd group was launched in October, 2010, for 1,000 Higher Education students and the 3 rd for February, 2011 for 360 students. The Ministry ad issued about 800 official approvals from the students accepted among the 1 st group. 546
