Baghdad Lord-Mayor’s office begins 60-day services plan

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The office of Baghdad’s Lord-Mayor has begun implementing a 60-day planto carry out public services in the Iraqi capital, the office said in a statement on Sunday.   The statement, a copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com news agency, quoted Baghdad’s Lord-Mayor, Saber al-Issawi, as saying, “The Baghdad Lord-Mayor’s office had began implementing its major 60-day plan, laid by the office and approved by the Council of Ministers, to implement public services in the Iraqi capital.”   “The most important frameworks of the plan aim at improving the services in Baghdad and to lay a plan for every office, under Baghdad Lord-Mayor’s office, whether being a mayoralty or technical services, along with fighting financial and administrative corruption. This should raise the reports by the director-generals directly to the Prime Minister,” Issawi said.   He pointed out that “a team had been formed, under his chairmanship, comprising the Inspector-General and other leading officials, to lay a mechanism to evaluate the activity of each office, including those in charge of cleanliness, maintenance of water and sewage, planting of trees, maintenance of roads, as well as the technical offices, in charge of implementing major and strategic projects, in order to find radical solutions for all service problems.”   SKH (TI)/SR 579
