British Council allocates $4.8m to refurbish Iraqi universities

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: A major project on partnership and cooperation between British and Iraqi universities was announced in London under the name of DelPHE, to be financed by the British side with £3 million ($4.876 million), according to an official at the Iraqi Kurdistan official on Saturday. “The project was announced during a meeting between the Iraqi Kurdistan region’s ministry of higher education & scientific research and the British Council in London on Thursday (Jan. 14),” Dr. Kufind Shirwani, the director of the ministry’s cultural relations department, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The project, to extend to the year 2012, would envisage partnership between the two sides on projects to be proposed by Iraqi universities in the field of upgrading learning and teaching methods as well as scientific research,” Shirwani added.
